Project Garima is a Menstrual Hygiene Management Training Programme, started in 30 Government Schools of Sikkim, which aims to educate and train children about menstrual hygiene. Project also aims to install Sanitary Napkin Machines and Incinerator across schools in Sikkim.
Phase 1: The first phase of the Project Garima covered 15 schools of East and South Sikkim. More than 6000 school girls are expected to benefit from this project. The Project Garima was inaugurated at Gangtok on 31 July by the HRDD Minister of Sikkim Shri R B Subba and Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder Sulabh Sanitation & Social Reform Movement.
Phase 2: The second phase of the Project was taken up in September 2018 in North and West Sikkim and about 17 more schools were covered in the second phase.
